The study of the impact of the Emerging and disruptive technologies (EDT) on various spheres of our lives is among the priority activities of the Sofia Security Forum. International conference "European Defense - One goal, Many Challemges" November 7, 2019, Sofia.

What the challenges to Europe in the security sphere are, what means NATO and EU have to cope with the risks and challenges, what impact the Ai, authonomous systems and new technologies have on the security... These and many oter questions were in the core of the debate with many prominint analysts and politicians.

Graduates from the Seventh Summer Leadership Academy of Sofia Security Forum for Young Leaders. The participants learned about the basics of the leadership, took part in many role games and met with proven leaders. At the last day of the Academy the young people had a chance to discuss many issues with the Mayor of Sofia Ms. Yordanka Fandakova. 

What we need to better protect the European Union from the riscks and threats. This was in the core of the debates during the International conference "European Defense - the Way Forward", 23 April 2019, Soofia, Bulgaria

The conference was organized under the patronage of the Chairman of the Defense Commettee of the Bulgarian Parliament. 

"Building a Cyber-security environment. What shall we do more to protect our children online" was a topic of the International seminar, which took place in Sofia on April 2019

Politicians, cyber-experts and scientists from Bulgaria and the Netherlands discussed how to cope with the online riscks. 

International Conference "Integration and Social Inclusion in Europe and Bulgaria" took place in Sofia, Bulgaria on November 16, 2019

Paticipants discussed what the working models and mechanizms for the integration of roma, migrants and other minority groups are.


Sofia Security Forum organized an event in the framework of the global initiative "Hague Talks" on the topic "How the Cyberspace is affecting Peace and Security". The event was held on September 20, 2018 and was met with a great interest by the cybersecurity specialists.

How to guarantee the European security is a matter that worries politicians and analysts. Sofia Security Forum contributed to the European-wide debate on the future of the European defense by organizing an international conference "Towards a New European Defense Identity" in Sofia on May 4, 2018. Among the participants were defense ministers from European countries, representatives of the United States, leading security and defense experts.

Over 60 young Bulgarians graduated from the Sofia Security Forum,s Leadership Academy /26-28 July 2017/. The young participants learned about the leadership, took part in role games and met with confirmed leders. 




Sofia Security Forum and Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies organized on December 5, 2016 an International conference "Debating Europe - towards common European defense and European Army". Sofia Security Forum hosted on November 14, 2016 an International workshop on regional security with participation of 20 diplomats form Afghanistan. 

Experts  from  more  than  40 countries  discussed  the  security  situation  in  the  Black  Sea region, the crisis in Ukraine and the role of NATO and the EU at an international conference held in Sofia on 9-10 September 2015. Among participants was the Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Daniel Mitov, who delivered a keynote speech.

The refugee crisis and its implications on the EU and European policies was topic of the workshop organized by Sofia Security Forum and ECFR in cooperation with the Martens Center and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung on November 16-17 in Sofia, Bulgaria

On January 12, 2015 Sofia Securty Forum hosted a meeting with the Commander of the Strategic Studies Center of the Qatary Armed Forces MG Al Nuaimi and members of the Center. During the meeting representatives of both organizations exchanged views on future common projects.

International Conference "Towards a New EU Defense Identity", May 4, 2018, Sofia, Bulgaria



Sofia Security Forum launched a new regional initiative SEENet - South-East European Cooperation Network. The informal network of NGOs and think-tanks aims at strenghtening the regional cooperation in the spheres of defense, security, good governance, etc. 


On November 28, 2017 Sofia Security Forum in colaboration with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences organized a National Conference "Security and the Science". Participants discussed the role of science and business in the future European Defense. 



Round table discussion "Future of the EU and the Challenges to the common security and defense" took place on 29 November 2017 in thee University of National and World Economy. The event was part of the initiatives of Sofia Security Forum in the face of the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council.



Sofia Security Forun and the Bulgarian Military Academy organized on November 29, 2017 a Conference on the European Security and Defense.



4-6 December 2017 an International Workshop "Problems of Foreign Terrorist Fighters and Radicalization on the Balkans" was organized by Sofia Securrity Forum and the International Counter Terrorism Center in Hague with participation of representatives from the Balkan Countries. 



On 12 December 2017 a Round table discussion "Bulgarian Army - past, current, future" took place in Sofia University. The President of Sofia Security Forum Mr. Yordan Bozhilov and Mr. Anu Anguelov, Minister of Defense /2010-2013/ spoke at the event.



On 15 December 2017 Sofia Security Forum and the Embassy of Poland in Bulgaria organized an International Conference "European Security and Defense".

Sofia Security Forum was co-organizer of a Conference "Building together the European Security and Defense. The role of Bulgaria" with participation of the Bulgarian President Mr. Rumen Radev, Mr. Boyko Borissov, the Prime-Minister of Bulgaria, Mr. Krassimir Karakachanov, Minister of Defense, as well as well-known security experts.

A roundtable doiscussion "Bulgaria in 2017" was held on January 19, 2017 by Sofia Security Forum in cooperation with the Centre for National Security and Defense Studies.

Sofia Security Forum conducted on November 10-12, 2015 a conference and training excersise dedicated to the internet security of young people.

The Third Annual Security Review Conference took place in Sofia, Bulgaria on November 13-14, 2014. Among the speakers were representatives of the Bulgarian Government, NATO, EU, countries of the Black sea region, academia and NGOs.

Lecture and discussion on the situation in Syria and Iraq was organized by Sofia Security Forum on October 9, 2014 in the Central Military Club in Sofia. 

A round table discussion on Crises management will be organized by Sofia Security Forum on September 24th, 2014 in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior and Sofia municipality.

Mr. Georgi Krastev a Project Manager at Sofia Security Forum delivered a lecture at The South-Eastern European  NATO  Academy, which took place on the 11th-15th of May, in Sibiu, Romania.
